You Are – A Wedding Poem

This is a simple but lovely poem about love on a wedding day. It celebrates the unity of two people in a simple but effective way.

You are like a song that never stops playing in my head

like that amazing sunset that turns to fiery red

like cool running water on a sunny hot day

with you, I believe I will always feel this way

 

You are like velvet on a new coat I just want to touch

you are the heat in my blood, makes my heart beat so much

I finally get to say the words that keep us as two, but make us one

this is our story, we have already started and yet, just begun

 

We will create the sentences of our life, add chapters to the years

you are my emotional punctuation, you make sense of all of my fears

as we hold these words and hold each other’s values so tight

this is our moment, this is our day and this is our night.
