GDPR Data Protection Regulation
causing chaos, confusion and some demotivation
citizens need control over their data
that we understand, but couldn’t we just do this later?
Know what you have and why you have it
make sure that you are GDPR compliant complicit
know who is responsible for the data you have
expect the best, but best be prepared for the bad
Encryption is not a pyramid in Egypt or ancient writing in Peru
encryption is something that you will need to do
if you have any data that you would not wish to be disclosed
encryption is the section that scares many, we suppose
We are told that we must be structured and manage this well
we are told to be thorough or someone might tell
we must have security at the top of our ‘to do’ list
oh my days, every GDPR corner has another data protection twist
However, it is something that we are all talking about
and its flippin time consuming, the new opting in, leaving the opting out, out!
companies all rushing to send the opt in’s to all
some with teenie mailing lists and some with a list that is a tower tall
“We really don’t want to lose you”
Oh, please stay on our list”
“We will miss you” or “we still need you”
“We love you”, Oh well, you get the gist.
We have been sending out emails and messages in the past
how did we know that this type of contact may not ever last
we don’t want to get fined, or for it to impact our biz
we don’t know whether to email or not to email
GDPR is like the old contact format sausage, but without the siz!
It is hard to let go, it is hard to do the right thing
old habits die hard we are just trying to make a living
so GDPR, you really are giving us grief
plus for us business owners, you are a flippin time thief
We have spent money on courses, to help us better understand
this is not what we expected, nor what we had planned
and business cards are not kept strictly under padlock and key?
Marketing permissions, new subscribers it’s ok
we won’t use your data, in an unexpected way
we won’t sell your details to a company in Nigeria
and we won’t be emailing our bikini collection to women in Siberia
What if we forget to include the opting in
will the GDPR regulating police, come and put us in the non-compliant sin bin?
storing the data is something we really have to think about
but if I hear those letters again, I may be inclined to shout
We don’t want to be fined, we need to be here
so if you don’t mind, allow us a little mere
mistake or two, before you swoop down
GDPR you really have turned our smile into one heck of a frown
In the end, its all for the good
protecting our privacy, we know that we should
we know it is, what is needed, to keep things fair
but please no GDPR version 2, don’t you flippin dare
So GDPR we have one last hoorah
When we are all safe, secure, policies in place, compliant
We are all going to the bloody bar!
