We are all inspired by so many people and so many things, inspiration in so many ways keeps us going, keeps us hoping.
I am inspired by all sorts of things on a daily basis, food, words, music, make up, jewellery, fashion, love, kind people and from a mother of four, struggling with her baby in her tired arms, her toddler holding tightly onto her hand, with two slightly older children trailing behind, while she still manages, almost effortlessly to get her children to school before me, and that woman, almost, used to be me… I am also humbly inspired by people that sacrifice their own safety to unselfishly help others.
My first real inspiration definitely came from my lovely mother, she was the most wonderful human being and extremely creative and intelligent. After I had left home to pursue a singing career, she found the time to write to me, her letters meant so much to me, hence why I have kept them all, as every word that she wrote was full of feeling. It seems to me that when people write, as opposed to sending text or typing, you can generally feel more of the personality coming through. My mum’s letters were long and full of news, with rough paper cuttings included about people we knew or about a local singer that was still doing really well in Devon (I think she wanted me to come back home). It is without doubt that her letters inspired me to continue writing, they were the key to my heart, I hope she knew that.
My aim for the next half of this year is to write more letters again, to do those thank you cards that I just can’t seem to get around to doing and to use all those lovely bright neon cartridge pens that I have stashed away at home.
Being a mother of three children, definately inspires me. I have a few different ventures, I juggle, who doesn’t these days. I believe this is the way forward for me as I have a creative streak and need to keep things fresh and exciting. I try to make my work fit in around the family, I want to be there to watch the carol services, sports days and be around, for so many reasons and for those ‘just in case’ times when, once again, I have forgotten to pack the thing that they really can’t be without on that particular day.
My children make my world, in fact, when they came into the world, they each filled a place in my heart that I didn’t even know was empty. The funny and clever things that they have said over the years and the young people that they have become, makes me very proud. They are a huge inspiration to me and I have so much to write about because of them.
Photography totally inspires me, I took this photograph just as the owner of the hounds was returning, I caught them all peeking out of the gaps in the trailer, immensely happy to see their owner. Moments like this have to be captured.
I discovered that while I am out on one of my dog walks, with our little, RSPCA, recently rescued dog Elsie, that it was a perfect time for me to get more inspiration for all sorts, including my writing material. My mind is more open to new ideas, I take photographs of almost anything, I am subconsciously watching people getting on with getting on. I feel so free, away from technology, the phones, reminders of how much there is to do, away from the lists for lists, it is such a busy life that most of us find ourselves in, we really do need to escape when we can, just for that inspirational recharge.
When I am away from all of these distractions, my head is clear, and suddenly ideas, topics, new ventures, marketing ideas just turn up in my head and I feel so good for the walk, I feel ready to take on the world. I just have to make sure that I can fit the walk in!
One of my work passions is the selling of gorgeous jewellery & accessories, and as much as I totally love the glittery world that I am in, I also love the less adorned activities, but each one, definitely has a place in my life, you just have to give each area space to grow.
The photo below was taken shortly after we adopted Elsie our Jack Russell Terrier cross, she certainly looks happy, she has started a new adventure with the five of us and Elsie certainly fits in really well, we all adore her. Coming home to a dog in the house is really lovely, it makes the working from home less lonely and actually helps with the indoor inspiration, dogs are definitely good for the health and Elsie is good for us…
There has to be a first blog and this was it!
